The Loitering Munition technology is advancing rapidly, reshaping the modern warfare landscape.

Recently, Loitering Munition technology has made significant progress in the global military field. Its unique combat effectiveness is profoundly altering the modern warfare landscape and has attracted widespread attention.
Loitering Munition, as a product of the integration of missile technology and unmanned aerial vehicle technology, possess multiple functions such as reconnaissance and surveillance, as well as air strike capabilities. During the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Loitering Munition performed exceptionally well, becoming a key force in altering the battlefield situation, and prompting various countries to accelerate the research and development of related technologies and the deployment of corresponding equipment.
The United States has been making significant moves in this area. Anduril's Barracuda-100M loitering missile completed powered flight testing in May of this year. The missile, with a warhead weighing approximately 16 kilograms, has a maximum air-launched range of 157.42 kilometers and a terminal speed exceeding Mach 0.76, demonstrating its powerful high-speed maneuverability and strike capability. Meanwhile, Cummings Aerospace has begun low-rate production of the Cerberus loitering missile. This loitering missile weighs less than 11 kilograms, has a full-range speed exceeding 563 kilometers per hour, and boasts excellent fuel economy, consuming only 50% of its fuel after traveling 12 miles. In addition, the first batch of "Atas-600M" cruise missiles delivered by the United States to Taiwan are 1 meter long, 2.54 meters wide, weigh 12.25 kilograms, have a maximum range of approximately 440 kilometers, and can stay in the air for 4 hours. They have a large combat radius and a long time in the air. Multiple aircraft can be networked and coordinated for combat, bringing instability to the situation in the Taiwan Strait.
Our country has also achieved remarkable results in Loitering Munition technology. The export version of the "Fenglong - 60A" new intelligent multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle can automatically form a network with a rocket launcher after launch, performing tasks such as battlefield reconnaissance, target identification, and precise strikes. It can also form a network with various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, significantly enhancing combat efficiency. Moreover, it can adapt to complex environments such as high and low temperatures. The warhead's penetration depth exceeds 350 millimeters.
From the perspective of technological trends, unmanned aerial vehicles are developing towards longer ranges, higher precision, stronger stealth capabilities, and intelligent cluster combat. In the future, unmanned aerial vehicles are expected to play a greater role in scenarios such as urban warfare, counter-terrorism operations, and border patrols, becoming important equipment for countries to enhance their military capabilities and safeguard national security. With continuous technological breakthroughs, the position of unmanned aerial vehicles in modern warfare will become increasingly important, and their development dynamics are worthy of continuous attention.
